Hello! My name is KARIN

On Sunday I joined 100+ volunteers in giving out nametags to baseball fans at Fenway Park. I love the way people laughed when we called out to them, "Hey George: enjoy the game!" I had such a good time I decided to take the name tag challenge and I have committed to wear a nametag every day for the rest if the year!

Also, thanks to this event I met some of my neighbors. I even met a woman who lives on my street: two doors down!

I just returned from four months in Guatemala, where people routinely greet each other onthe street with "Buenos dias," "Buenas tardes," or "Buenas noches." It was refreshing to be in an environment where people don't think one is crazy for greeting a stranger.

The Nametag Projectis a great way to live our ideals in daily life. Thanks!!!

After I made the decision to join this project, I sent the following email to my friends and community members:

Dear friends,

On Sunday I took place in volunteer effort (100+ volunteers) to hand out name tags at Fenway Park before the Red Sox game. It was so much fun! I met some of my neighbors who were also volunteering, including a woman who lives two doors down from me I had never met before! It was a lot of fun! People thought it was hilarious and great fun when they walked by with their nametags and we greeted them by name. "Hi George! Enjoy the game..."

The whole idea of the project is to get people to talk to each other. The idea is to think of everyone in the world as our neighbors! In addition to encouraging people to greet each other and get to know one another, the idea is also to reduce fear and prejudices in our communities. You won't be nervous walking home if you know all of your neighbors!

I love this project so much, I HAVE COMMITTED TO WEAR A NAMETAG EVERY DAY, EVERYWHERE I GO, UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR!

At a time when urban crime rates are high, there is a lot of political divisiveness, and our morale as a country seems kind of low, meeting new people and treating each other like neighbors is something I can really get behind.

In addition to wearing a nametag myself, I am also committing to encourage other people to wear name tags too. (Tonight I am going to hand out nametags at my Spanish Meetup group.) This is a marvelous idea for company or community group projects, events and meetings as well as for individuals.
